What are cookies
Cookies are usually text strings that websites, visited by the user and / or different websites or web servers (so-called “third parties”) place and store within a terminal device in the user’s availability. The software for browsing the internet and the operation of these devices, for example browsers, can store cookies and then transmit them again to the sites that generated them on the occasion of a subsequent visit by the same user, thus maintaining memory of his previous interaction. with one or more websites. The information encoded in the cookies may include personal data, such as an IP address, a username, a unique identifier, a computer resource locator (URL) or an e-mail address, but may also contain non-personal data, such as the settings of the language or information on the type of device a person is using to navigate the site.

Cookies can therefore perform important and different functions, including session monitoring, storing information on specific configurations regarding users accessing the server, facilitating the use of online content, etc. For example, they can be used to keep track of items in an online shopping cart or information used to fill in a computer form.
Cookies can be generated directly by the manager of the website consulted (“first-party cookies”) or generated by parties other than the site manager, hosted on the page itself (“third-party cookies”)
If on the one hand it is through cookies that it is possible to allow web pages to load faster, and to correctly transmit information on a network – therefore in line with obligations strictly connected to the operation of websites themselves -, again through cookies it is It is also possible to convey behavioral advertising and then measure the effectiveness of the advertising message, or to conform the type and methods of the services rendered to the behavior of the user subject to previous observation. We can therefore identify two macro-categories:

They are necessary to view the page correctly and to use the services provided; facilitate the consultation of the site, memorizing some language settings, display, and so on. This macro-category also includes analytics cookies (first or third-party), only if used to collect information, in aggregate form, appropriately anonymized in compliance with regulatory indications, in order to improve the service provided.
The use of technical and functional cookies does not require the user’s consent according to the provisions of Directive 2009/136 / EC, the provision of the Guarantor of 8 May 2014 and the “Guidelines for cookies and other tracking tools – 10 June 2021 “.
Disabling technical cookies could create malfunctions and prevent the user from viewing the site.
– profiling cookies, aimed at creating user profiles and used to promote offers in line with the preferences expressed by the user in the context of surfing the net. Since these tools are not necessary for the correct functioning of the site but are used exclusively to personalize information and advertising offered to the user, they require your consent, which can be freely revoked at any time without prejudice to the treatment prior to the revocation (Article 6 , co. 1, letter a) of the GDPR)
In line with the most recent regulatory indications, “Guidelines for cookies and other tracking tools – 10 June 2021“, the list of cookies on the website can be consulted, with related information on their operation and the processing of data generated.
